Ba Da Kang Shen

Shangri La City, Yunnan Province

Under the main halls of Zhacang and Jikang, there are eight major Kangshen, including Dongwang, Zhaya, Duoke, Jidi, Xiangcheng, Zhuo, Yangtang, and Rongba, representing the eight petal lotus flower and symbolizing the separation from the mortal world, cleanliness, and auspiciousness of the Songtsenlin Temple Buddhist holy site. "Kang Can" in Tibetan means the monastic community, which divides the monks of a large temple into several groups based on their place of origin or place of origin, forming a regional organization of the diocese. Kang Shen is presided over by an old monk and has staff such as Nianwa and Gegan, who are relatively independent in managing the administrative, religious, and economic affairs of the diocese. Kang Shen was a monastic organization in different dioceses, and before the democratic reform, it was an important component of the integration of politics and religion. The current Kangcan is a centralized chanting place for monks under the leadership of the Democratic Management Committee of the temple.

The architecture of Kangshen is different from the main hall, it has a flat roof.
